Installation

Note; the Point Pod is recommended to be installed by tradesperson only.

How to install?

Follow these steps for a successful Point Pod installation:

  1. Choose the Installation Location.
  2. Select a suitable spot for your Point Pod. Make sure there is ample free space above and below the bench-top and that a power source is easily accessible.
  3. Mark the Installation Hole. Use the included outer ring (collar) as a guide to mark the installation hole on your bench-top with a pencil. Double-check all measurements to confirm the Point Pod will fit in this location.
  4. Drill the Hole. Drill a 102mm diameter hole in the bench-top. A modified drill press clamped to the bench-top works best for precise and clean drilling. For stone surfaces, using a plywood template can improve accuracy. Refer to the installation video for additional tips.
  5. Save the Off-Cut. Keep the off-cut from the drilling process. File any imperfections to ensure it is perfectly round and smooth.
  6. Attach the Outer Ring (Collar). Apply silicone adhesive to secure the outer ring to the hole in the bench-top. Wait for the adhesive to dry completely before proceeding.
  7. Glue the Plastic Flange. Attach the plastic flange to the underside of the bench-top using a strong adhesive, like two-part epoxy for stone surfaces. Allow the adhesive to dry fully before moving on.
  8. Insert the Point Pod. Insert the Point Pod into the hole from the top. Adjust its height to align with the bench-top surface. Tighten the large hose clamp on the plastic flange to secure it in place.
  9. Connect and Adjust. Plug in the Point Pod and raise it. Once raised, disconnect the power. Adjust the screws inside the top cup to ensure the bench-top insert fits flush. Once aligned, remove the insert, apply adhesive, and secure it in position.
  10. Finalize Installation. Reconnect the Point Pod to power, and it’s ready for use!

This step-by-step approach ensures a smooth installation and a flawless finish.

    Liquid Spills

One of the most common questions we get asked is what happens if I spill something on my Point Pod? Watch the video below to find out what to do:

What happens if I spill liquid?

The design and installation of the Point Pod ensure that liquid is directed away from the unit when it is in the closed position. This is achieved through the mounting flange, which is securely installed under the bench-top. It features weep holes around its outer edge, allowing liquid to be diverted safely away from the unit.

However, it is still important to dry any liquid that may collect beneath your bench-top in the cabinets. Additionally, ensure that the surface of your bench-top is thoroughly dried to maintain cleanliness and prevent damage. By addressing both areas, you can protect your Point Pod and the surrounding space effectively.

    Crumbs In the Kitchen

What happens in a messy kitchen if crumbs or other debris enter the Point Pod?

If crumbs get inside they will likely get pushed away through the weep holes in the Point Pod under bench-top flange. You may need to clean up these crumbs under your bench. Vacuuming these crumbs away will also help to clean.

Large crumbs that get stuck may require the unit to be disconnected, removed and turned upside down.

Watch the YouTube video demonstration above for more information.
